Beyond The Rainbow ABA

Meet Provider

Who is this Casey person?

I’ve been working in this field since the beginning of 2008, which was the best preparation and parent training I could’ve ever had for when I had my first son at the end of 2011, whom I would later come to find out was on the spectrum.  I believe I’ve had a unique background and have certainly pulled from all my various experiences to be the type of clinician I am today.  I grew up helping my mom with puppet shows and the like when she was a kindergarten music teacher, always having a strong background in art, theater, and music (I’ve been on the radio and done some pretty cool singing gigs).  I’ve worked in nursing homes, including dementia wards, as a medical technician, caregiver, and an activities director.  I’ve been a youth director, coming up with fun games and leading retreats and music for teens, a rock climbing facilitator, a photographer (specializing in fantasy photo shoots with kids), a virtual teacher for kids in China, ages 2-14, for 3 years (achieving 41 different certifications), and have run my own art shop (via Etsy and vendor fairs).  In the field of ABA, I first worked at a private school designed for kids with autism that had small classrooms of neurotypical children with one to two kids on the spectrum.  It was an amazing way for the kids on the spectrum to learn social skills and make friends while teaching neurotypical children how to accept others who were different and love them for who they were.  Every child had a unique way to help one another and it was a beautiful, symbiotic system!

I’ve led social groups for adolescents, helped start and conduct mock school programs, and worked with adults on the spectrum in a variety of ways, including working for DARS (Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services) in Texas.  Through DARS, I helped people with a variety of disabilities prepare for, find, and keep jobs, providing job training on and offsite.  I’ve spoken at conferences, attended numerous IEPs (including those for my own kid) and even conducted behavior management training in daycares.  I started Beyond the Rainbow in 2020, but then Covid hit and I never fully launched except for one private client, especially when I then had both of my own children at home with me when schools were shut down.  As time progressed, I ended up continuing to work for others.  My grandparents were from Chester County so I’ve come to Chester my whole life, lived here temporarily twice before, and always loved this community.  When I found a way to move here for good in 2024, I knew it was time to start brainstorming how to finish what I had started but having services available in remote areas that lacked resources people need.  I am passionate about what I do, and I bring to the table a love of people of all ages, out-of-the-box thinking and creativity, and the personal experience of having faced similar challenges as the families I serve.

When I had my first child, I was no longer just seeing things from the sidelines of being a clinician, but I became immersed in the experience.  I have fought the fight— advocating for my son against endless hurdles, enduring judgment and being ostracized from society when in public and from my own loved ones, and persevering through battles and jumping through the same hoops the families of my clients have navigated as well.  I very much understand the difference between being advised from a professional on what is ideal and to strive for versus what is sometimes feasible and realistic.  When a professional expects something that is not attainable, not just from their client but from the struggling support system of that client, and then places judgment and criticism upon that family structure, this only exacerbates the problems and stressors the caregivers are already overwhelmed by.  If you choose Beyond the Rainbow for your loved one, we’ll develop goals together but I’ll meet you where you’re at and do my best to not ADD to the overwhelm.
